The Challenge

Several leading steel service centers, specialized in the supply of alloy steel plates, needed to
automate the cutting of square blanks of various sizes from large-format plates.
Key challenges included:

  • A high number of cuts required per plate
  • Lengthy material repositioning times
  • Repetitive cycles and operational safety risks linked to manual handling
  • The need to optimize cycle times and minimize material waste

Our Solution

Friggi proposed the SVC HSS, a vertical bandsaw equipped with:

  • A rotating blade guide system to switch between longitudinal and cross cuts without repositioning the plate
  • A fully automated movable clamping gauge
  • Nesting software, to optimize cutting layouts and minimize waste

The machine can automatically cut hundreds of blanks from a single plate without operator intervention.
Finished pieces remain neatly arranged on the external table, ready for unloading.
